Behind the Movement
At La Scoula Ballet, we believe a balanced and analyzed system of theory and execution can train all of the qualities in a classical ballet dancer. Our experienced and enthusiastic teachers ensure that every one of our students are training in both the technical and artistic qualities of the art. All students within this program are working at or towards a pre-professional level.
Our ballet program is divided into 3 levels, each with specific goals and standards. Dancers work through each level, starting at the beginning, and progress through at a rate appropriate for their physical training, maturity and dedication to consistent training.
The Cecchetti Method of Ballet
Cecchetti training is a rigorous method which pays careful attention to the laws of anatomy. It develops all of the qualities essential to the dancer: balance, poise, strength, elevation, elasticity, “ballon”, etc. It is classic in its purity and clear-cut style.
The Cecchetti Council of America is an organization dedicated to maintaining the standards and method of ballet training established by Cav. Enrico Cecchetti. The organization uses his teaching and writings in a sequence of grades, carefully measured as to the degree of difficulty and physical development, and provides a system of accredited examinations to test the student’s proficiency within those grades.
The CCA incorporated as a nonprofit educational association in 1951 and was the first organization in the United States to adopt a uniform system of teaching and examinations. Since that time, it has developed outstanding teachers as well as students who have danced professionally in ballet companies across the world.
The principal objective of the Cecchetti Council of America has always been to raise the quality of ballet teaching. This requires consistent attitudes of self-improvement and professional integrity on the part of each member teacher. The Council provides continuing educational opportunities through publications, refresher courses, and ballet conferences.
